Jim Swanson was named Managing Partner of the Victoria HarbourCats in January 2016, after serving as General Manager and Vice President since 2013. Swanson has been involved in every HarbourCats season since Year Two, with the franchise now entering its sixth season in 2018.
Swanson will continue to lead the Baseball Operations department and head coach Brian McRae’s coaching staff, and oversee business functions with John Wilson, Vice-President/Business. All staff will continue to report to Jim Swanson, who has taken on the team’s seat with the Board of Governors for the West Coast League, including roles with two committees.

 

Jim has an extensive baseball background as a former professional baseball general manager and long-time media member, coach and baseball promoter. He was formerly Sports Editor of the Prince George Citizen, was VP-GM of the Grand Forks Varmints of the Prairie League (independent) in 1997 and ran the Prairie League office in 1996. Has coached youth and men at international level, and mentioned four times in Bob Elliott's annual Most Influential People In Canadian Baseball, and in 2017 was ranked 76th on that list.

Additionally, has has been Chair of two Baseball Canada Senior Championships, and three World Baseball Challenge tournaments. Swanson was the Manager of national champion Prince George Axemen in 2012, and a coach on 2014 national champion Langley Blaze.
