Dave Murray - Speakers Series
Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide: How will we adapt to Sea Level Rise?

Our own Dave Murray who is a Water Resources Engineer specializing in Flood Protection, Fisheries Habitat, Erosion, and Bioengineering will talk to us about adaptations required with the rising sea levels.

Sea levels are rising and predicted to rise in the Victoria area about 1 metre by the year 2100.  Around the world, communities and governments are waking up to sea level rise and beginning to plan strategies to adapt.  This high-level chat will discuss what climate scientists are saying is causing seas to rise, what is going on around the world adapting to sea level rise and what is happening closer to home to plan for sea level rise.

Our Rotary Exchange Student, Phoom, will also give us a brief talk about his home club.
