Our Food for Seniors is a true partnership program. James Bay New Horizons identifies the seniors who could really do with food support; Fairways Markets supports us with the purchase of food; and we could not do this without the funding from the Time Colonist Christmas Fund and other funders. We along with the seniors are very grateful to them all.
Usually on the second Saturday of each month, we pack bags of groceries and then deliver them to the seniors. Here are the dates for the next thee months: April 6th, May 11th and June 8th .
Most of the seniors live in James Bay, downtown Victoria and Esquimalt. Volunteers start packing at 9:15 a.m. at the James Bay New Horizons Centre on Menzies Street. The teams are on the road by 10:00 and are done by noon.
Our volunteers are Harbourside Rotarians, family, and friends and include families with young children (they love it and the seniors especially love the kids!).
