The Power of a Scholarship
Skip Triplett has led a very full life. He's been a soldier, a corporate manager, an educator, and now a governance, leadership and engagement consultant. He lives in Colwood with his wife, Stewart Ann.
For today's purposes, let's focus on his education experience. He led Kwantlen Polytechnic University (it has campuses in Langley, Surrey, and Richmond) in its transitions from a Community College to a University. He retired as its President in 2008 and is now its President Emeritus. He is currently the Board Chair of LaSalle College Vancouver, a private degree granting college focused on creative industries. Our own former member Jamie Kemp is its Chief Academic Officer.
He is a former member the Rotary Clubs of Richmond, South Surrey, and Westshore. He has served as Chair of Rotary International District 5050's and District 5020's International Scholarship Committees and as member of the College Action Committee of Victoria's Western Communities. It was the impetus behind the Camosun, Royal Roads, and U Vic collaborations to bring on-site post-secondary education to the West Shore.
He loves watching young people grow career, leadership, and citizenship skills. Now in his early 80s, he is still at it! He is the Army Cadet League of Canada's BC Branch Representative for South Vancouver Island where he provides advice and support to the Cadet Corps of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Regiment in Esquimalt, the Canadian Scottish Regiment in Victoria, and the 39 Service Battalion in Saanich.
