BC SPCA

Emma Hamill is the Victoria Branch Manager - Animal Centre.

Emma says, “This is truly a dream job and I am so excited to work with such a diverse, passionate, and knowledgeable team. I am excited for us to work further towards positive change for animals in Victoria!” Her love of animals was fostered helping her father rehabilitate black bear cubs, owls, and everything in between in Northern Ontario.

She is the mother of Mabel, a five-year-old sassy rescue Staffy and Oliver, a 12-year-old lazy love bug mastiff/rottweiler cross, she was also the foster mom to many BCSPCA dogs. She began volunteering at the Victoria BC SPCA in 2014 with small animals, and then became a dog socializer before fostering.

Emma has worked in non-profit management for over 10 years with organizations such as the University of Ottawa Students' Society, University of Victoria Students' Society, Fernwood Community Centre and most recently for the past six years at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria where she was the Visitor Experience Supervisor and Volunteer Coordinator. Currently Emma is in the last stages of a Master of Arts in Community Development at the University of Victoria, with her thesis exploring Emergency Animal Welfare Resources for Low Income and Homeless Populations in Victoria.
