Many charity buildings are run-down. Some still need to be built. In Victoria we are on a mission to change that.

Paul Latour is the founder and CEO of the HeroWork Society, a charity that transforms other charities by renovating buildings through big community events that are akin to a modern-day barn-raising or extreme makeover. These events are called “Radical Renovations,” and each often have over 100 companies and hundreds of volunteers involved.

HeroWork began because Paul wanted to help a friend with MS. His initial idea was to bring 20 people together, have a pizza party, and help his friend. Seven weeks later Paul spearheaded a single-day $25,000 renovation with a budget of $380.
Since then, Paul has gone on to create and grow a society that by the end of 2021 will have completed nearly $7 million worth of non-profit renovations in the Victoria area, including such organizations as the Rainbow Kitchen, the Mustard Seed, Power To Be, Our Place, Threshold Housing, The Salvation Army and more.HeroWork’s vision is to replicate and share their program so that Radical Renovations can take place in a wide range of urban centres.

Paul has been featured on Global national news as well as the Times Colonist, Douglas Magazine, Canadian Living Magazine, and more. He has also been honoured with a Paul Harris award and a Leadership Victoria award.
