Challenges of entertainment media, including addiction

Shannon Husk is a registered clinical counsellor with over 18 years of experience including within organizations such as the Victoria Women’s Transition house, Lifetime Networks, Community Living Victoria, Citizen’s Counselling Centre and Police Victim Services. She also worked in the Saanich school district for six years.  Shannon currently works for BC Responsible Gambling doing outreach and prevention work in the community with any individuals and their families that struggle with issues around screen time, social media, video gaming and gambling.

Shannon's presentation will provide some insights into the concerns that individuals and  families are facing in regards to entertainment media. Entertainment media includes Netflix, social media, video gaming and online gambling. I will also share some ways of addressing these concerns and tell you about the free services that our program offers.
