The Magic of Rotary
The District 5020 Governor, is the official representative of Rotary International in District 5020. As Governor, your mission is to lead clubs, inspire Rotary members, and engage the general public in the important role fulfilled by Rotary in our community.
Bill McGregor has been a Rotarian since 2007 in the Lacey Rotary Club. Served as its President 2013-2014 and served as the Assistant Governor In Area 130 (Lacey, Gateway, Hawks Prairie and Yelm clubs) from 2018 until 2021. Bill and his wife are Paul Harris Society members and are Major Donors.
He has a degree in Transportation Logistics, is certified through the American Ports Association as a Public Port Manager. He currently serves on the South Sound Maritime Heritage Association board and He has served on many Non-profit boards during his career.
As a former elected Port Commissioner, he had been involved with Ports in Washington State for over 42 years. He has worked at the executive level with the Ports of Tacoma, Olympia and Grays Harbor. In 2000, he retired from the Port of Grays Harbor, moved back to Lacey and went to work for Saint Martins University as the Director of Facilities Management. In 2006, he was appointed to a vacant Port of Olympia Commission seat and he held that elected position until December 2021 when he did not seek re-election.
He and his wife Barbara have been foster parents for over 40 years. They have opened their home to children for a night, for weeks, months and have had several stay for multiple years. They have 5 children and 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren with another one due in late 2022.
