Air Traffic Control. (ATC). A Simple Job Made Complicated.
In the past year there were about 12 million air traffic movements in Canadian controlled airspace. Vancouver International Airport was the second busiest in Canada. Rod will talk about how simple air traffic control was back in 1939 and how complicated it has become with increased traffic in our skies.
Rod Armitage is a retired air traffic controller, who has endorsements for Pitt Meadows Tower, Vancouver Centre Enroute and Vancouver Centre Terminal. For most of his career he worked in the Vancouver Control Centre, a windowless building that houses many more air traffic controllers than the Vancouver Control Tower.
