Alison Wake
Canada's first online tribunal
Summary of presentation: The Civil Resolution Tribunal is Canada’s first online tribunal. It assists participants with resolving disputes involving small claims, strata property matters, motor vehicle accidents, and certain matters relating to societies and cooperative associations. The CRT encourages collaborative dispute resolution and allows participants to resolve disputes quickly and affordably, when and where it is convenient for them. Where an agreement cannot be reached, the CRT issues binding decisions that can be enforced through the court. Alison will provide a brief overview of the CRT’s areas of jurisdiction and its innovative process.

Alison joined the CRT as a Case Manager in 2018 and now acts as Legal Counsel for the tribunal. Prior to working with the CRT, Alison practiced law at a Victoria firm before moving to Kamloops, BC, where she now lives with her partner Nathan, and their cat, Pete. Alison is passionate about collaborative dispute resolution and access to justice. She is grateful to live and work on the traditional territory of the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc peoples.
