Flooding in BC and how we got into this mess.

Our President-elect will try and answer some of the pressing questions that have arisen over the recent floods.

  •  Why don’t we have a place where we can go to find out if we are in a floodplain?
  • Land prices are astronomical and munis are approving flood plain areas for developers. River, ocean front locations are highly desirable.
  • Why are floods getting larger and more frequent?
  • What can I do to protect myself?
  • How do you figure out where the floodplain is?
  • What does a 1 in 200 year flood mean?
  • Why don’t I find out I’m in a floodplain when I buy a house?
  • Why doesn’t the bank want to know if I have flood insurance when I buy a house?
  • Why are flood standards different in every province in Canada?
