Sylvan Lutz will share some of the specifics of his studies, followed by 10 minutes from Karla on Disaster trauma support.

Sylvan Lutz is a Rotary District 5020 Ambassadorial Scholar and Rotary Global Grant Scholar sponsored by his local club of Victoria-Harbourside. This talk will introduce the environment Rotary area of focus that Sylvan is being funded to study and relate it to the important work that Rotary Clubs and RI are doing around the world. Sylvan will discuss his background and why, as a Victoria native and a student of economics and politics, environmental protection is such an important issue. Finally, Sylvan will share the important research on positive economic incentives for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as well as the program at the London School of Economics that the support of the Victoria-Harbourside rotary club is allowing him to do this year.

He is a native of Victoria BC and a graduate of the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Social Science degree double major in Political Science and Economics.  He graduated with a GPA of 9.78 out of a possible 10! While in Ottawa, he served in Canada’s parliament as a page for two years as well as a parliamentary assistant for another year.  He has also taken courses in Canada at the University of Victoria and Camosun College while in high school, and at a Political Science university in Paris, France on a one-year exchange program.
