Community Outreach

Rotarians work hard to make a difference. Here are just a few of our contributions to the Greater Victoria area and our global community.  
 

Creating hope. 

Members and friends of Harbourside Rotary volunteer to feed people of all ages through several programs.   We have a back-pack program where we load backpacks full of food and distribute,  we provide volunteers and food at tables at a school to provide toast and other items so kids can focus on their studies,  not empty tummies.   We also have a program of delivering food to seniors where it's not just the food these seniors look forward to,  it's the connection.   Rotary members and Friends of the Club make it happen. 

Changing the world, one child at a time.  

Starfish Packs is a heartwarming initiative, providing much-needed nourishment to local vulnerable children every weekend with two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and snacks.

Remarkably, this program is a pure reflection of community spirit, relying solely on the generosity and voluntary efforts of kind-hearted locals, without any paid staff or government funding. It’s a true testament to what we can achieve when we come together to support the youngest members of our community.

Our core mission is simple yet profound: ensure no child goes to bed hungry. Starfish Packs starts by meticulously preparing backpacks filled with nutritious and easy-to-prepare meals. These backpacks, brimming with hope and sustenance, were then distributed to children in need, ensuring they had enough food for the weekends when school meals were unavailable.
